Adette,
What's your schedule look like in the next couple months? Can you get back to LA for a few days? It won't take long.
CBS is casting for a new procedural right now - a revival and reimagination of Nancy Drew. You know Nancy Drew, right? They don't want a caucasian woman to play her for a change. She's in her 30s working as a NYPD detective, so this is a perfect opportunity for you. Look at how well Lucy Liu's done on Elementary. I think the network would be a great fit for you. It'll get you a lot more visibility in the US market especially since so many young women in the country grew up with Nancy Drew books. I've got a buddy at CBS and he says he can schedule us time to talk to the casting director.
I know you've said in the past you're not all that interested in TV shows, but how about we consider it? TV's leading the way for women of color anyway, and look, we don't know what's going to happen to Sense8 after this season. The best, the meatiest roles I keep finding for you are all in television. Look at Maggie Q, Lucy Liu, Constance Wu, Mindy Kaling. They're all starring in their own shows. Movies... well, you know. Movies are tougher. You don't deserve being some bullshit character in a big budget movie. I want more for you, Adette.
By the way, given, you know, it's too bad we couldn't get you that Mantis role in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, huh. Would you have skipped Avengers? Who knew Marvel'd want to cast an Asian actress as part of the main cast just two, three years after we started talking to them.
Anyway, call me as soon as you can. I've got several opportunities for you. I know you're tied up for most of this year between Sense8 and whatever you're doing in Korea, but let's talk soon. There's a lot of interest in working with you and a good number of opportunities I think we can tackle.
Kevin
