"Sun is a stronger, more certain, more selfless person than I could ever hope to be. It is always intimidating to pretend you're something better than you are, but I think the challenge is a good one. We should always aspire to be something more."
okay, if it is true that she's dating oliver, i'm sure she talked to ione first. she's in greece right now filming "descendants of the sun" so yeah of course she wasn't at the vmas. she probably would've gone if she wasn't working. and they were tweeting at each other during the vmas so preeeetty sure they're cool the same way ione is VERY CLEARLY AND VERY OBVIOUSLY cool with scout. stop trying to stir shit. ione james doesn't need your "help"
Rumor has it unfortunately that KBS's much anticipated Descendants of the Sun starring Song Joongki and Song Jieun may be pushed back from its scheduled air date in late September to early 2016.
This new drama serves as the comeback project for both actors, Song Joongki having finished his military service in May and Song Jieun taking on her first drama since 2005.
Filming has wrapped in Seoul and moved onto Greece, where they will film the remainder of the drama.
i don't like to speculate on her personal life, but it kind of looks like it's true, doesn't it? i mean i guess it could still just be pr, but i don't know. they've been showing up at the same places all year and they seem to spend a lot of time together for something that isn't real...
- august: oliver turns up in seoul, fans take photos of them at a spa, and then he's photographed leaving her apartment
- june: she goes to the jurassic world premiere for no reason and he instagrams a photo of them together in vegas. if you want to believe the rumors, suppoooosedly they went to the artists for the arts benefit together and she stayed at his hotel
- april: no pictures but they both tweet about being at coachella and hanging out with the same people so safe to say they hung out there
- march: oliver has no reason to be at the insurgent premiere but for some reason he is
it's really random but cute even if i still want her and rain to get back together :( #neverforget
weimanweiman:
BRING BACK ZHEN LEI (AND HER LEGS)In 2013, production approached Adette Weiman about returning for Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts (likely Avengers: Age of Ultron), Weiman was unable to reprise her character.
Fortunately, with the success of the latest Mission Impossible film, MI6 has openings for many of its female leads to return including Augusta Corvino and Paula Patton.
Weiman herself has expressed interest in working with Tom Cruise again, quoting him as an incredibly down to earth friend despite his impossible fame.
If you had the choice, what kind of character would you like to play?
I'd like to go back to a more comedic type character. It's fun to make people laugh, but my career went a different direction than I first started. I think part of the reason people still see me as my character from My Sassy Girl is because she made them laugh as much as she made them cry. We all have a special place in our hearts for people who can make us laugh. I think that kind of responsibility is more of a challenge for me.
You play a doctor in Descendants of the Sun, do you find the medical terms difficult?
It is! You have to make it sound convincing even though it feels like you're speaking nonsense. This is my second time playing a doctor, but I still feel awkward pretending to sound smart. My sister is a doctor, so often I'll call her and have her use the terms the way she would at a hospital. I usually end up imitating her. My sister is a confident woman to start with, but when she switches into doctor or mom mode, she becomes some kind of Superwoman because she is responsible for someone else's life. So when I play doctors, I try to inject some of that essence into my character, especially for this drama. The exciting thing is that I can now say "I play a doctor on TV, so you can trust me." I'm ready to open my own medical practice.
How different is it to live as an actress in Korea and the US?
There are different expectations, I think. It is much more difficult for me to be in the public in Korea; people tend to know me so I have to be careful about many things. But then, in the same sense, it's easier for me because I have been working here since I was 17. Directors and studios know me, they know what I can do. I met a woman recently who told me she felt like I was her daughter because she watched me grow up on TV and in the movies. Even though she was a stranger to me, she's known me for 15 years. In the US, they don't really know me. To them, I have only been working for five years. I can go to the market or go to a bar without anyone recognizing me, but then it's difficult to find your place within Hollywood as an Asian woman. Often, you have to make hard decisions on whether or not you want to play a stereotype just to get recognition or hold your moral ground and pass on big projects. I chose to use my American name instead of my Korean one because at the very least, "Adette Weiman" would get my foot in the door for an audition.
How is your relationship with the Wachowskis? You've done two movies and a TV show with them now.
Lana and Andy are family to me. I've been a big fan since their Matrix days, and when I first met them, I thought there wasn't a chance I would be able to work with them. So many people grew up with the nostalgia of Keanu Reeves and Neo. Everyone wants to work with them. For some reason I'll never understand, they emailed me one day and told me about this new project they were working on. I think for most people, the Wachowskis are polarizing. You either love their work or you don't, but they are visionaries and visionaries will always have that problem. They push boundaries, make people think, they're ambitious. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but you will always walk away impressed. I admire that about them; they are never afraid to fail. I like to think of their projects like artwork that accompanies the dialogue. Everything they touch is breathtakingly beautiful, they really understand visual storytelling. Meeting them has changed my life personally and professionally. As long as they want to continue to hire me, I will work on anything for them.
