"This sure is a nice mid-week casting jolt to get drama fans buzzing. With soon to be discharged from the military Song Joong Ki confirmed as the leading man for Kim Eun Sook‘s upcoming disaster zone love story Descendants of the Sun, it’s about time the production revealed news of the potential leading lady. It had to be a big name, with lots of fan chatter in recent months around Kim Tae Hee or actresses of her name recognition and experience level, which made sense based on Kim Eun Sook’s casting record for all her dramas aside from Heirs, which went with a much younger cast. The K-media is reporting that Kim Eun Sook has reached out and is in serious talks with Song Ji Eun to don her best white coat and fatigues to join Song Joong Ki out in the conflict zone this fall. Song Ji Eun, however, has not worked in South Korean entertainment since her last movie in 2009. This would be her come back project if she decides to take the Descendants of the Sun. Her endorsement deals are drying up in Korea. She hasn't made the list of most popular CF actresses in years. She hasn't done anything amazing in the US. She's now trying to get some PR by working with Ione James cause it's an easy way for people to care about her. She's clearly only coming back to Korea because she needs money. I'm so glad she didn't do My Love From Another Sun! She doesn't deserve it after what she did to My Sassy Girl 2! If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it. Ji Eun may not be starring in movies in the US, but she still getting a lot of small roles in big movies. She's making her connections. If she wants to come back to SK and make dramas for us fans, then why should we complain?
